Langley-Adams Library and Nichols Village are thrilled to be co-hosting artist Kathy Conroy! REGISTRATIONS for this event are required for NON-Nichols Village residents as space is limited. Kathy will be demonstrating the technique called scratchboard. She will also be sharing a slide show of her amazing portraits!
About the artist: Kathy, who claims to have been an artist since she was 5 years old, earned a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Cincinnati. While attending this institute, Kathy was taught a variety of mediums but soon favored scratchboard. After earning her degree, Kathy worked as a graphic designer for a major horse industry firm which led her to a full time sales job and various other jobs. But through it all, Kathy kept her art work as a side job. When time allowed, Kathy began doing art exhibits and art shows. Soon enough, Kathy began getting commissions for various subject matters ranging from pet to human portraits. With increase in demand for her art work, Kathy decided to do it full time! She has worked exclusively in scratchboard and spends 40-50 hours a week doing it. Her personal goal is to achieve the designation Master Scratchboard Artist by the International society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA). Come and see Kathy's work. I think you'll agree with me that she will earn this recognition! I sure hope so!
