We hope you'll come to our library (or zoom from home) to meet crime fiction/mystery authors BJ Magnani and Matt Cost! They will be here in person! They will both share how they got into writing and talk about their books. BJ writes the Dr. Lily Robinson series: The Queen of All Poisons; The Power of Poison; A Message in Poison; and We'll Always Have Poison (July 27th release). Maine author Matt Cost writes the following series: The Goff Langdon Mainely Mystery Trilogy; The Clay Wolfe/Port Essex Series; and has started a new series entitled "The Brooklyn 8 Ballo" historical mysteries.

About BJ Magnani: Before becoming a full-time author, Barbarajean (BJ) Magnani, PhD, MD, FCAP was the former Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tufts Medical Center and at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, and served as the Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Toxicology Committee. Dr. Magnani, internationally recognized for her expertise in clinical chemistry and toxicology, has been named a Top Doctor in Boston magazine and has received recognition from Castle Connelly for Exceptional Women in Medicine. She was also named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Laboratory Medicine Professionals in the World by “The Pathologist.” The Distinguished Career in Teaching Award from Tufts University School of Medicine was given to Dr. Magnani in 2019, and the Tufts Physician Organization created an annual award, in the name of Dr. Barbara Jean Magnani, to recognize a woman physician who demonstrates institutional impact and leadership. In 2024, Dr. Magnani received the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Spotlight Award from Hofstra University. "The award recognizes alumni who have achieved distinction through leadership, excellence and innovation in their respective fields."

About Matt Cost: Matt Cost was a history major at Trinity College. He owned a mystery bookstore, a video store, and a gym, before serving a ten-year sentence as a junior high school teacher. In 2014 he was released and began writing. And that’s what he does. He writes histories and mysteries. Cost now lives in Brunswick, Maine, with his wife, Harper. There are four grown children: Brittany, Pearson, Miranda, and Ryan. A chocolate Lab and a basset hound round out the mix. He now spends his days at the computer, writing.
